Drew has been a joy to be around. Our nights have not been bad at all and he is feeding just fine. Keep an eye out for our pictures. We are going to take pictures of Drew every week and post them in their own set on Flickr i.e. Week 1, Week 2, Week 3 etc.

I have never been through something like this. It is definitely something I’ll never forget. Probably the most humbling terrifying experience I have ever been through. I cannot even put into words everything that we’ve been through thus far.

As I was typing this, the nurse came in and checked Lindsey. She is now at 4 cm. and station -1 which means the baby has moved even further down. She also explained that textbook-wise, she will dilate 1 cm. per hour which would put us at having the baby at 6:00PM tonight. Now I’m really excited.

So, that’s where we’re at right now. I’ll be posting as things progress.

After that they started her on Patocin which got the contractions going pretty strong. They are now very consistent and God bless her, painful. After a good bit of pain, they gave her a dose of Nubane which is a pain reliever. I don’t think I’ve seen Lindsey so happy and relieved after receiving that dose. The pain completely went away and she is doing much better.
They can give her the Nubane every hour for 3 hours. After that we are hoping and PRAYING that she will have dilated to 4 cm. so that she can then receive the epidural.

To sum it up, everything is going well. Lindsey is resting as much as she can and I am hanging in there. I really don’t have much else to say at this point other than today is the day. Drew is on his way. This will probably be the most rewarding and happiest day of our lives.

We got here at about 7:40 PM or so. We got here a little early so we had to wait a little bit for the nurse to get our room ready. No problem. We got Lindsey settled in, got her hooked up to the monitors and got her IV in and running. She’s doing great.

The plan is this: They have given her some medicine to help her cervix ripen a bit more to prepare it for labor at about 9:00 PM. I’m looking at the monitor right now and she is having some contractions but nothing major yet. They are going to come in at 1:00 AM to check her to see if she has progressed any. If she has, great, we’re on schedule. If not, they will give her another dose to see if it helps her progress a little further.

Tomorrow morning at around 7:00 AM, Dr. Charles Hudson will come in and attempt to break her water assuming that she has dilated enough for him to do so. After that, they will start her on a patocin drip which will give the contractions a kick start to make them more productive.

That’s the plan as of now. I’ll report back tomorrow assuming that nothing happens tonight to let you know where we stand. Everything looks great at this point.

I have come back to work to make sure everything is wrapped up here so I’m not leaving anything undone.
Lindsey is officially on leave now and is at home resting preparing for what is to come in the next day or two. So the time has come. We are finally here. I’ll post again tonight to let you know what’s going on. Wish us luck and if you would, add us to your prayer list.

Lindsey called the nurses line on Saturday and after describing how she was feeling they told us to come in just to be safe. So, we go to the hospital and sit in a cold hospital room watching Lindsey’s contractions and Drew’s heart beat on a monitor for 2 hours to find out that nothing is happening and to go home and rest. Very frustrating.

I’ll post an update tomorrow after the appointment with what’s going on.

There has been no change at all since last week’s visit and the doctor will not schedule her to be induced next week because there really isn’t a reason to. She is still 50% effaced and hasn’t dilated a single bit. This was a huge disappointment because we honestly thought that she was moving along nicely based on the feelings she has been having through out the week. So, basically we are waiting until next Tuesday to see if Drew comes on his own. If he does, great, couldn’t have worked out better. If not, we will schedule Lindsey to be induced the following week which would mean I would miss out on Father’s Day. Keep us in your thoughts and let’s hope and pray he makes an appearance within the next week.

We are now less than 2 weeks away from bringing this little stinker into the world and let me just put it to you this way; we’re getting a little antsy.
We went to the doctor 2 weeks and there was no change in Lindsey progressing at all.
We went again last week; still the same results.
We went yet again on Monday and Lindsey has effaced by 50% which is a good sign but still no dilation.
Ever since Monday she has been getting contractions more frequently than before which is an excellent sign that things might be going our way. We have committed to walking every night around the neighborhood to help things along. This will hopefully do something.
Drew is moving around A LOT. He is as active as ever and it’s beginning to take a toll on Lindsey. He is really cramped in there and simply put, he is literally beating the doors down to get out of there.
Our bags are packed and everything is ready here at the homestead. We’ve got diapers, wet wipes, diaper cream, lotion, bottles and every other thing we could possibly need for when we get home.
We go back to the doctor again on Tuesday to see how Lindsey is progressing. If there is still little or no progression, we will more than likely schedule Lindsey to be induced. Now, assuming this is a choice we will either be induced the following week or we will wait another week to see if he comes on his own. This being a double-edged sword, if we induce the following week, there is a 30% chance of a C-section. On the other hand, if we wait a week, he could gain weight getting bigger which makes for a more difficult and risky natural delivery. In my opinion, the first option would be the safest way to go but that’s entirely up to the doc.
That’s the basic update of what’s going on. I’ll let you know later on the week of any changes.
